About

Hello, I’m Karen Bonanno.

Karen Bonanno

I have worked in government and private schools as a secondary teacher, teacher librarian, head of department and acting deputy principal.

In 1992 I was appointed to the position of regional education adviser – library and resource services and later transferred to the central education office as an education officer.

When some changes in the central office structure happened during 1993 I decided to resign and established my consultancy in 1994.

I hold a Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship) With Distinction,
a Graduate Diploma in Teacher Librarianship,
a Graduate Diploma in Teaching, and
a Bachelor of Arts – Humanities.

Major awards that I have received include:

  • Learning Commons Visionary for 2012 by the editors of Teacher Librarian: the Journal for School Library Professionals
  • Exponential Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2011)
  • Capra Ryan Australian Teacher Librarianship Prize from Charles Sturt University for the student with the highest grade point average (2005)
  • Australian School Library Association Citation Award (2001) in recognition for outstanding contribution to the national leadership of teacher librarianship.

A focus for 2012 will be on ICT integration and curriculum and the role information specialists and school libraries have in these important aspects of education for young people. To help with the planning of the content it would be great if you could take a few moments submit your ‘most burning question’.

Your question will help determine the content for reports, articles, webinars and other events to be hosted by schoollibrarymanagement.com

Kind regards
Karen

What people say …

We have already used a lot of the information from the education webinars, most recently in a meeting with the Head of Teaching & Learning. I can't begin to tell you how useful the webinars and your website have been to date and will be to the future of our work.
